AHHH, THE LONE RANGERS:

7 comments:

  1. Hello Brother,

Why is it that so many Christians are so quick to throw stones? It seems that Jesus was not so, but rather more quick to act in love and compassion. Not that Jesus didn't throw stones, but when he did it was always at those with stones in their hands...

So when can I come to your non-denominational house church? Sounds like my kind of place!

    1. We throw stones when others stumble, but we ask for grace when we're the ones on the ground. A bit hypocritical, eh?

Brother Ben, you are welcome any time!

"What I truly think he meant was this, 'So, you have no direction and you want to be held accountable to no-one, and you clearly don't understand the bible because if you did you would...'"

...be a Christian and not an atheist.

You've personally never used that one on me, but it's a common argument from believers that seems to make intuitive sense to them. I'd say it would most likely be what I would have heard come from that guy's mouth had I been standing there instead of you. No matter the religion or denomination, it never ceases to amaze me how much the god or gods agree with the person making the statement.

Let's raise a glass and toast to the health of the lone rangers!

    1. Bret, you crack me up! Sorry that you've endured such criticizms. As a good friend of mine once prayed, "God has his people everywhere." That means we're not only in large churches or small house churches, but also at different points in our journey as well.

I, for one, appreciate the challenges that you and a close atheist friend of mine bring to the table. I've never been one to like merely swallowing whatever is spoonfed to me. Rather, I like to ask the Bible hard questions. And guys like you help me do that!

I think you mean Eric, but I get what you're saying. :)

    3. Eric, I'm an idiot! I saw your comment on my phone and was thinking it was Bret from anythingbuttheist.blogspot. Both of your titles are long and I completely glazed over it. Sorry, bro. That was you to whom I was referring in the comment, tho :-)

I thought it was something like that. Our brains take a series of shortcuts every day as they piece things together. That's just one more. :)
